Accessories for sliding systems
Advantages of sliding gates:No need for a counterweight. Unlike cantilever gates, there is no need for a bulky and costly counterweight, which makes the structure lighter and more compact.More affordable price. Components (rollers, guides, brackets) are cheaper, and you also save on metal for the counterweight.Ease of manufacture and installation. It is easier to make such a gate with your own hands or to order - no special calculations or expensive components are required, it can be made on site.Versatility. Suitable for both private plots and industrial facilities - especially if there is no need to install a drive system.Less load on the supports. The weight of the gate is distributed through the rollers to the rail, rather than hanging on the console, which reduces the strength requirements for the supporting structure.
But there are also disadvantages to consider:The guide (rail) is located in the roadway, and it requires regular maintenance (cleaning from snow, dirt and debris), especially in winter.
Here are some useful tips and technical recommendations for designing, installing and maintaining a sliding gate (with guide rail):1. Selection of rail and rollers. Use a galvanized rail - it is resistant to corrosion and lasts longer. Rollers should be with metal or polyurethane wheels for smooth running and less noise. Make sure that the rollers can support the weight of the gate with a margin of 20-30%.2. Prepare the foundation. Pour the reinforced concrete strip along the gate's running line - this is where the rail will be attached. Make sure the concrete base has a slope for water drainage to avoid freezing in winter.3. Correct installation of the rail. The rail must be absolutely straight - a skew will cause jamming. Place the rail on anti-vibration pads if the ground is unstable.4. Maintenance. Clean the rail regularly from dirt, sand, snow and ice.5. Safety and automation. Install the end stops to prevent the gate from moving off the rail. When installing automation, consider the presence of a warning lamp and safety photocells. Choose a drive taking into account the weight of the gate and the frequency of use (for example, a 500-600 kg motor is enough for a private house).
The main structural elements:Gate leaf. Metal frame sheathed with profiled sheet, wood or sandwich panel.Guide rail. Mounted in the roadway, roller carts move along it.Roller trolleys (2 pcs.) are installed on the foundation and carry the entire web.End rollers and end caps. Provide a smooth stop and protection against derailment.Catcher (upper and lower). Fix the door in the closed position and reduce swinging.Foundation beam. Concrete strip with a tab for fastening the rollers and rail.Automation (optional). Drive with a toothed rack, control unit, photocells, signal lamp.
